US Deputy Secretary of State meets Army Chief to discuss situation in the region, including Afghanistan

The US Deputy Secretary of State met with the Army Chief to discuss the situation in the region, including Afghanistan.

Rawalpindi (Daily Pakistan Online) Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa says that Pakistan supports the establishment of a broad-based government in Afghanistan.

According to Pakistan Army Public Relations (ISPR), US Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman called on Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and discussed issues of mutual interest. The regional security situation was also discussed.

On the occasion, the Army Chief said that Pakistan is committed to peace efforts in the region and Afghanistan and supports the establishment of a broad-based government in Afghanistan.

The US Deputy Secretary of State appreciated Pakistan’s role in the situation in Afghanistan and commended Pakistan for its cooperation in the evacuation of foreigners. He said that he wanted to continue working with Pakistan for regional peace.
